Turkmenistan is consistently strengthening its international ties, as evidenced by data presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov at a government meeting summarizing the results of the first 11 months of this year.
According to Meredov, the country's foreign policy momentum continues to grow steadily. From January to November, Turkmenistan hosted 770 foreign delegations, while 1,226 domestic delegations made working visits abroad. Modern diplomatic formats were actively utilized: 548 meetings at various levels were held online.
A notable indicator of expanding international cooperation was the 2,649 official negotiations and meetings held in Turkmenistan with representatives of foreign states and international organizations.
The legal framework for foreign policy cooperation has also expanded significantly: 227 documents have been signed since the beginning of the year, underscoring the systemic nature of the diplomatic service's work.
During the reporting period, contacts between the foreign ministries continued to strengthen, including holding bilateral consultations between the ministries.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation with the European Union: meetings were held with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who is also Vice-President of the European Commission, and with the European Commissioner for International Cooperation.
The work of Turkmenistan's embassies in foreign countries remained significant, where efforts were made to further develop diplomatic relations.
Since the beginning of 2025, a number of foreign countries have sent new ambassadors to Ashgabat, who presented their credentials. In turn, Turkmenistan's ambassadors have also begun missions in Iran, Nepal, the Republic of Cyprus, Mongolia, Bahrain, Monaco, Serbia, New Zealand, Ireland, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Morocco.
At the same time, Turkmenistan's consuls in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey officially began their work, underscoring the expansion of the country's consular presence abroad.
Summing up the results of its foreign policy activities over the past eleven months, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of further strengthening Turkmenistan's cooperation with countries and leading international organizations.
The head of state noted that the country's foreign policy should continue to develop on the basis of respect, neutrality, and constructive interaction, reflecting Turkmenistan's growing international significance.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov was recommended to ensure thorough and timely preparation for all events to be held in honor of the significant date – the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and International Neutrality Day – in order to ensure these events are well-organized and meaningful.
