President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov began a two-day state visit to Kazakhstan. The Turkmen leader's arrival was celebrated with high honors: he was personally greeted at Astana International Airport by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and an honor guard was formed in his honor.
The state visit marks an important stage in deepening the strategic partnership. The main part of the visit, including high-level talks, will take place on November 25. The agenda, announced by the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promises to be rich and comprehensive.
During the talks, which will take place at the Presidential Residence in Astana, the parties will discuss prospects for further strengthening the strategic partnership. Particular attention will be paid to the following key areas.
Trade and economic cooperation: Traditionally, this block of negotiations focuses on expanding bilateral trade and investment projects aimed at diversifying trade turnover.
Transport and logistics cooperation: Both countries play a key role in transcontinental corridors, including the North-South corridor, which facilitates route optimization and increased transit efficiency, including through the use of the Caspian Sea.
Energy: Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, possessing the largest hydrocarbon reserves, regularly discuss energy security issues and the potential for joint projects in regional and global markets.
Cultural and humanitarian exchanges: Strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties is a key focus of bilateral relations, reflecting the historical commonality of the two fraternal peoples.
Furthermore, discussions are expected on current aspects of regional security and coordination within international organizations, underscoring Ashgabat and Astana's responsibility for stability in Central Asia.
Following the planned high-level talks, the signing of a number of bilateral documents aimed at deepening Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation is expected, providing a powerful practical impetus to the strategic partnership.
