“Yandex” and SolidSoft establish cybersecurity joint venture

Yandex B2B Tech, a division of Yandex, and SolidSoft, a Russian cybersecurity company, have announced the formation of a joint venture (JV). The new entity aims to develop information security solutions designed to help businesses protect web applications from attacks and other threats.

According to Yandex B2B Tech, this JV will strengthen the cybersecurity offerings within Yandex Cloud, where the consumption of related services increased 2.1 times in 2024. SolidSoft is recognized as a Russian developer of the SolidWall WAF (Web Application Firewall) for protecting web applications, which is utilized across various sectors, including transportation, telecommunications, and finance. SolidSoft also offers SolidPoint DAST, a scanner for automating application security analysis. Yandex B2B Tech estimates that the Russian market for web application protection solutions exceeded 30 billion rubles in 2024.

The joint venture will combine the expertise and technologies of both companies. Plans include the integration of SolidWall WAF and Yandex Cloud's Smart Web Security service, which will provide comprehensive protection against attacks, DDoS, and bots. It is also anticipated that protective mechanisms will be enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence technologies. The JV's solutions will be available both within Yandex Cloud and for on-premises installation on clients' own infrastructure.

Under the terms of the agreement, Yandex and SolidSoft will hold equal shares in the JV, with Yandex having acquired 50% of SolidSoft for this purpose. Yandex also has an option to increase its stake in the future. The JV will be managed by SolidSoft's founders. SolidSoft will continue to develop its own products, and all existing agreements with clients and partners will remain in effect.
