02.06.2025 | 11:00 |Two young Turkmen poets, Muhammet Bekgiyev and Danatar Galpakov, won the title of laureates at the international poetry competition-festival of the Turkic world, Zhashyl Aalam, which brought together around 50 participants in the city of Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.
The festival jury awarded Muhammet Bekgiev, executive secretary of the newspaper Türkmenistan, and Danatar Galpakov, head of a department at the newspaper Nesil, the international Zholon Mamytov Medal.
As part of the event, organizers held a conference and arranged a meeting with the translator of a collection of poems by the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy into Kyrgyz. Participants read Magtymguly’s poems in both Turkmen and Kyrgyz, highlighting the richness of cultural and literary ties between the two nations.
TÜRKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev praised the depth and relevance of Turkmen literature in his speech. He emphasized that Magtymguly’s works promote universal values such as peace, brotherhood, and unity among peoples. Raev drew parallels between these humanistic ideals and Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, noting how both reflect shared human values.
The Zhashyl Aalam festival acts as a cultural platform that promotes literary cooperation and mutual understanding across the Turkic world.
