The World Digital Education Conference is being held in China
15.05.2025 | 21:20 |China, currently accelerating the construction of an educational powerhouse, will consistently promote the digital transformation and intelligent modernization of the education sector. This statement was made by Chinese Vice Premier of the State Council, Ding Xuexiang, during his address at the opening ceremony of the 2025 World Digital Education Conference, themed "Education Development and Transformation: The Era of Intelligence" which commenced on Wednesday, May 14th in Wuhan. Ding Xuexiang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, emphasized that China pays close attention to the development of digital education. He stated that China is building a modern digital education system that will be more equitable, exhibit higher quality and a greater degree of intellectualization, and provide universally accessible lifelong learning for the entire population, according to Xinhua.
The Deputy Head of the Chinese government called for leveraging the momentum of educational development in the era of intelligence, deepening international cooperation in digital education, and accelerating the realization of the UN Global Digital Compact. The aim of the Global Digital Compact is to establish a comprehensive global framework necessary for multilateral actions required to bridge the digital, informational, and innovation divide. It outlines principles, objectives, and actions to promote an open, free, and secure digital future for all, centered on human interests, based on universal human rights, and enabling the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The opening ceremony of the event gathered over 600 participants, including officials from Chinese and foreign governments, leaders of relevant international organizations, representatives from universities, primary and secondary schools, as well as experts and scholars. The 2025 World Digital Education Conference will continue until May 16th.
