The essay competition for schoolchildren from the CIS member states, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will commence on May 1st, 2025

Specifically, the essay competition on the theme "Courage and Heroism of the Young Generation During Wartime" will begin on May 1st, 2025, for schoolchildren from the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

This competition is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and is being held within the framework of the International Scientific and Educational Congress, scheduled to take place in Saint Petersburg at the end of October 2025.

The primary objective of this competition is to foster in young people a respect for their country's history and to facilitate an understanding of the significance of the achievements of previous generations. Participation in the competition will enable schoolchildren to develop their literary and analytical skills, deepen their knowledge of military history, and contribute to the preservation of historical memory regarding the heroic deeds of their ancestors.

Participants are invited to write an essay based on Boris Vasilyev's work, "He Was Not Listed," which vividly illustrates the courage and heroism of young individuals during the war.

The competition will run until September 15th, 2025, and the results will be announced at the plenary session of the congress on October 31st, 2025. Winners will receive certificates and commemorative prizes, and the best essays will be published in a collection dedicated to the anniversary of Victory.
