The West Asian Youth Chess Championship took place in the city of Dushanbe from April 20th to 29th, 2025, bringing together over 200 participants from 12 countries in the region.
The national team of Turkmenistan was represented at the tournament by 17 young chess players, who demonstrated a high level of preparation, determination, and sportsmanship.
Following the results of the competitions, Leyla Shohradova won a gold medal, scoring 8.5 points out of a possible 9 and confidently taking first place in her age category. Charyyev Charyhekim also demonstrated strong play, finishing among the top three in his group.
In the team standings among participants under 10 years old, the Turkmenistan national team was awarded bronze medals in three disciplines: blitz, rapid, and classical chess.
In total, Turkmen chess players won one gold and four bronze medals, once again confirming the high potential of the young generation of Turkmen athletes in the international arena.
