27.04.2025 | 20:20 |A significant international event took place in the historic city of Guernica, Spain, on April 25-26 – the launch ceremony of an important global initiative called “Call for Peace, Ending Wars and Respect for International Law”. A delegation from Turkmenistan led by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov took part in this representative forum.
The event attracted a wide range of high-level participants, including government officials, leaders and representatives of authoritative international organizations, as well as influential youth leaders, academics and civil society representatives from around the world. Those gathered in Guernica unanimously emphasized that this “Call” carries a powerful and relevant international message about the urgent need to consolidate efforts to protect peace and ensure the rule of law throughout the planet.
It was particularly noted that this initiative is intended to give new, effective impetus to global efforts to comprehensively strengthen peace and trust and will become a significant contribution to the practical implementation of the lofty goals and fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
In his speech to the forum participants, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov presented the country's position and emphasized the unique significance of Turkmenistan's neutral status, which has been confirmed three times by the world community. This status, according to him, is not just a form of foreign policy, but an active and reliable platform for the consistent promotion of constructive peace initiatives, the development of a broad dialogue between countries and the effective prevention of conflicts at the regional and global levels.
Turkmenistan's participation in the launch of this initiative and the country's active steps in the international arena are a clear confirmation of Ashgabat's firm desire to make a tangible, real contribution to the formation of a culture of peace, the development of mutual understanding and the strengthening of international cooperation based on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
As part of the discussions on the fundamental foundations of peace, the event in Guernica also particularly noted the critical importance of developing an open and respectful dialogue between different cultures, religions and peoples. It was emphasized that it is precisely this kind of dialogue that is a necessary condition for overcoming differences, strengthening mutual understanding and achieving sustainable peace throughout the planet.
