Ashgabat hosts training on procedures for Uzbekistan's foreign trade activities
16.04.2025 | 22:20 |A two-day training on "Foreign Trade Activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan: Customs Procedures for Import, Transit and Export of Goods" was held in Ashgabat on April 15-16. The event was held within the framework of the International Trade Center (ITC) project "Turkmenistan: Trade Sustainability and Integration", funded by the European Union.
The training was part of a project aimed at developing cross-border trade taking into account gender aspects. It was aimed at women entrepreneurs, employees of logistics companies and representatives of government agencies working in the field of cross-border trade regulation. The main focus was on the practice of conducting foreign trade activities with Uzbekistan, one of Turkmenistan's key trading partners in the context of growing trade turnover and expanding cooperation within the free trade regime.
The sessions were conducted by experts with extensive practical experience - Chairman of the Association of Customs Brokers of Uzbekistan Arsen Ayrapetyants and his deputy Enver Khalilov. They spoke in detail about the procedures for concluding foreign trade contracts, the practice of negotiating with Uzbek partners, as well as key customs procedures: import, transit, temporary storage and processing of goods on the territory of Uzbekistan.
Special attention was paid to working with electronic systems, such as the Unified Electronic System of Foreign Trade Operations and E-Transit, adopted in Uzbekistan. Participants discussed issues of customs duties, preferences, features of export-import operations between the two countries, as well as border crossing by individuals. Practical exercises and open discussion helped participants to better understand the regulatory features of Uzbekistan, which will increase their readiness to conduct foreign trade with maximum efficiency.
The training contributed to expanding the participation of women entrepreneurs and specialists in foreign trade activities, raising their awareness of the specifics of interaction with partners in Uzbekistan, as well as strengthening business cooperation between representatives of the private sector of the two countries and promoting sustainable trade in the region. ITC and the EU will continue to support representatives of the private sector, providing them with access to the necessary knowledge and tools for successful entry into foreign markets.
