 Competition for the development of visual materials highlighting the importance of biodiversity conservation in the territory of Turkmenistan

In commemoration of World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5th, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF) project "Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Achieving Multiple Benefits" hereby announces the commencement of the application period for a competition to develop visual materials on the theme: "The Importance of Biodiversity Conservation in the Specially Protected Natural Territories of Turkmenistan". This project is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

Citizens of Turkmenistan, including those temporarily residing abroad, are invited to participate. The competition accepts drawings, infographics, or digital designs intended for the creation of thematic stands. These stands will be installed in the Amudarya and Gaplangyr State Nature Reserves, as well as their buffer zones.

Submissions must be prepared in Turkmen, Russian, or English and should address one or more of the following categories:

Directional signs for territory demarcation;

Information stands detailing nature conservation measures;

Exhibition stands for visitor centers.

Submitted works should reflect the unique flora and fauna of Turkmenistan, as well as efforts towards their protection and conservation. All submissions must utilize verified and reliable data, with mandatory citation of sources.

The submissions will be reviewed by a конкурсное жюри (competition jury) comprising representatives from UNDP, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, and the following public organizations: "Ynanç Wepa", "Ýaş Tebigatçy", "Tebigy Kuwwat", and "Eko-Durmuş".

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

Compliance with the competition terms and conditions;

Quality and clarity of information presentation;

Accuracy of data and citation of sources;

Originality of concept and creative approach.

The deadline for submission of applications is May 20, 2025.

The application must also include the applicant's full name; age; name of organization (if applicable); contact telephone number; and email address.

The торжественная церемония вручения призов и дипломов (solemn ceremony of awarding prizes and diplomas) will take place on June 5, 2025, at the UN House in Ashgabat, in observance of World Environment Day.

The winning submissions will be utilized within the territories of the Amudarya and Gaplangyr Reserves to enhance public awareness regarding the importance of specially protected natural territories.
