During an official visit to Japan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the head of one of the most famous universities in the country - the University of Tsukuba.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere, and also emphasized the importance of academic exchange and joint scientific projects. The subject of an interested discussion was issues of hydrogen energy, other areas of modern research in the field of "green" and IT technologies.

President of the University of Tsukuba Kyosuke Nagata expressed gratitude for the meeting, noting that the visit of the President of Turkmenistan contributes to the further development of already established relations in the field of higher education. He also conveyed greetings and good wishes to National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In his response, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening partnership with Japan, including through educational and humanitarian interaction. In this context, the head of state noted the special role of academic exchanges in strengthening friendship between peoples.

Turkmenistan and Japan have long and successfully cooperated in the field of education. Thus, direct ties have been established between the universities of the two countries. Among the partners of the University of Tsukuba were the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi and the Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan.

One of the important steps was the signing on April 7 of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba on joint research in the field of hydrogen energy - one of the key areas of the future energy transition. This once again emphasizes the interest of both countries in innovation and environmentally friendly technologies, and also indicates the scientific priorities of the two countries.

The President of the University noted that the basis for such close cooperation was laid by the efforts of National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and in recent years has received new development with the active support of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was awarded the honorary title of Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Tsukuba for his contribution to the development of scientific and educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.

In a solemn ceremony, the head of state was presented with the corresponding diploma as a symbol of deep respect for his contribution to the development of interstate relations in the scientific and educational sphere.

It should be noted that National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had previously received a similar title, which became a sign of recognition of his many years of state and scientific activity.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked for the honor and emphasized that he perceives this award as a manifestation of respect for Turkmenistan and evidence of the high level of partnership between the two countries.

Thus, Serdar Berdimuhamedov's visit to the University of Tsukuba became an important element of the humanitarian component of Turkmen-Japanese relations.

The signed agreements and reached understandings confirm the desire of both sides to deepen cooperation not only at the government level, but also at the specialized level - in the field of education, science and youth exchange. And this strengthens the foundation of long-term mutual understanding between the two countries.

After all, education is a bridge of friendship, which is strengthened by academic cooperation.
