 UN Landlocked Developing Countries Programme to be Named after Turkmen Avaza

On April 11, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to hold the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan.

According to the document, the four-day forum should be held in Avaza from August 5 to 8, 2025, "at the highest possible level, including at the level of Heads of State and Government."

The Assembly welcomed and accepted "with appreciation the generous offer of the Government of Turkmenistan to host" the Conference, entitled “Driving progress through partnerships”.

In accordance with the resolution, after the Conference, the Ten-Year Programme of Action (2024–2034) for Landlocked Developing Countries will be renamed the Avaza Programme. The resolution was adopted by consensus with the co-sponsorship of 57 UN member states, the UN News Center reports.
