Updated list of candidates to host the 2031 Asian Cup presented

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has presented an updated list of candidates to host the 2031 AFC Asian Cup. Previously, bids to stage the tournament were submitted by Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and a joint bid from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. India has now been added to this list.

This announcement was made by AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa at a meeting held in the lead-up to the 35th AFC Congress.

This event holds particular significance as the AFC Asian Cup is the premier national team football tournament in Asia, held every four years since 1956. It is important to note that the AFC Asian Cup has never been held in Central Asia.
