Almaty held CIS Foreign Ministers' Council meeting and Central Asia-Russia meeting
11.04.2025 | 23:55 |A delegation from Turkmenistan led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov took part in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The event, which took place on April 11 in Almaty, was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
A thorough exchange of views took place on a wide range of areas of cooperation in the Commonwealth format. Issues of multilateral partnership in the field of political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation for the near future were discussed, according to a press release from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in Dushanbe in October 2025 on the eve of the CIS Heads of State Summit.
Also, on Friday, a meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies in the Central Asia - Russia format took place.
The parties discussed the prospects for multilateral cooperation in the context of implementing the agreements reached during the Summit of Heads of State Dialogue, and also defined algorithms for mutually beneficial partnership in strategically important areas of trade, economic, investment, and transport and logistics cooperation.
