The first CIS volunteer forum will be held in Kazakhstan in 2026
11.04.2025 | 18:11 |The inaugural Volunteer Forum of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held in Kazakhstan in 2026.
This decision was adopted at a session of the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA CIS), which took place in Almaty. Addressing the participants of the CMFA CIS, the Vice-Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ayzada Kurmanova, stated that the initiative to hold the volunteer forum was put forward by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in October 2023 at a session of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
The forum will be aimed at supporting the youth volunteer movement and strengthening intercultural ties between the CIS member states. The event will serve as an important platform for the exchange of experience and the development of volunteerism in the region, which is particularly relevant in light of the growing role of volunteers in society.
The designation of 2024 as the Year of the Volunteer Movement in the CIS demonstrated the significant demand for the establishment of such a forum.
It is further planned that subsequent forums will be held in other CIS countries on a rotational basis.
