 The interrelation between migration and sustainable development was presented to Turkmen youth

Within the framework of events held in Turkmenistan to commemorate the "International Year of Peace and Trust", the Representative Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Turkmenistan conducted a lecture at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan entitled "IOM: Building Models for Development". This was reported on the website of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.

Approximately 160 students, studying law and international relations at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, and the International University for the Humanities and Development, participated in the event.

The IOM Regional Coordinator for Central Asia, Serhan Aktoprak, shared insightful facts about the International Organization for Migration and migration in general. The students broadened their understanding of the interaction between the International Organization for Migration and governments, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to promote safe, orderly, and legal migration.

Speaking about IOM's work in Turkmenistan, Serhan Aktoprak highlighted the productive cooperation with the government in various areas of migration management, including the climate change adaptation agenda, countering irregular migration, and emergency preparedness and response.
