 The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan is participating in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent

The Turkmen delegation, headed by the Chairperson of the Mejlis, paid a working visit to Tashkent to participate in the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which commenced on April 5th in the Uzbek capital.

During the visit, the Chairperson of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, met with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Ackson.

Speaker Gulmanova briefed the leadership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the main directions of the country's peaceful and humanitarian domestic and foreign policy, and extended an invitation to participate in international events, including parliamentary ones, being held in the country to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in turn, highly praised Turkmenistan's active cooperation in the international arena and expressed keen interest in further developing dialogue and holding joint events.

The Turkmen delegation also met with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, as reported on the Mejlis website.

During the meeting, the significance of the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan, "2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust" and "On the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan" as well as the initiatives put forward by our country to ensure peace and security worldwide, was emphasized.

Furthermore, the Chairperson of the Committee of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy, Bayramgozel Myradova, participated in the Forum of Women Parliamentarians organized within the framework of the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

In its address at the Forum, the Turkmen side underscored the importance of the activities being implemented in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms, ensuring gender equality, and increasing the activity and support of youth. The achievements in the implementation of the National Action Plan for 2021-2025 on ensuring gender equality in Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the UN and other authoritative international structures, were highlighted.
