 Serdar Berdimuhamedov and António Costa discussed cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU

Today, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the first Central Asia-European Union Summit, met with the President of the European Council, António Costa.

As the President of Turkmenistan noted, our country attaches great importance to cooperation with the EU in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and transport-communication spheres, expressing confidence that this meeting will contribute to the deepening of multilateral relations with the European Union.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that in recent years, the interaction between Turkmenistan and the EU in the political-diplomatic system has become active. A prime example is the partnership in the Central Asia-European Union format.

Noting the significance of the recent meeting of the heads of foreign ministries of Central Asian countries and the European Union in Ashgabat, the President of the European Council expressed confidence that these high-level events will contribute to the establishment of a multifaceted and long-term partnership between the two regions on a regular basis.
