The United Kingdom and Turkmenistan are expanding economic cooperation

The United Kingdom and Turkmenistan intend to broaden their bilateral economic ties. This was stated by the British Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Mr. Stephen Conlon, in an interview with Trend.

The diplomat noted that the recent visit of the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan to the United Kingdom to participate in the meeting of the Turkmenistan-United Kingdom Trade and Industry Council constituted a significant step in the development of business relations. During the visit, the Minister held negotiations with leading British companies, including the London Stock Exchange and JCB, which opens prospects for new joint ventures.

British companies are already actively operating in Turkmenistan in sectors such as tourism, energy, and infrastructure. Mr. Conlon emphasized that in the third quarter of 2024, the trade volume between the two countries reached 79 million pounds sterling, which underscores Turkmenistan's status as a reliable and promising trading partner for the United Kingdom.

Particular attention is being paid to cooperation in the field of clean energy. According to the Ambassador, the countries intend to work jointly on projects aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.

Furthermore, the United Kingdom and Turkmenistan are engaging with key partners to expand collaboration in the sphere of mechanical engineering and to support British companies interested in increasing exports to Turkmenistan.

This multifaceted cooperation presents new opportunities for both nations and establishes a foundation for sustainable economic growth.
