Beijing launches first railway freight service to Central Asia
20.03.2025 | 11:00 |On March 19, 2025, Beijing inaugurated its first railway freight route to Central Asia.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, citing the Beijing Bureau of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., a freight train departed from the suburban Fangshan district en route to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The train was loaded with 90 standard containers carrying auto parts, pharmaceuticals, and other commodities manufactured in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The train is expected to reach Tashkent in approximately 14 days, passing through the Khorgos port of entry in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The launch of this new route not only enhances logistics between China and Central Asia but also contributes to the implementation of the "Belt and Road Initiative" which aims to foster economic ties and infrastructure development among participating nations.
