Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Valentina Matviyenko discussed deepening Turkmen-Russian cooperation
18.03.2025 | 23:51 |On March 18, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to Valentina Matviyenko for her significant contribution to the development of friendship and strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia, noting her many years of active work in various government posts aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
Valentina Matviyenko congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming Novruz holiday, emphasizing Russia's strong commitment to the development of trusting and mutually beneficial contacts between the peoples of the two countries, TDH reported.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people confirmed the high assessment of friendship with the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan's desire to build up partnership in a wide range of areas. Particular attention was paid to the important role of new interaction formats, such as the platform for interparliamentary cooperation - meetings of parliamentarians of Central Asia and Russia, and the Women's Dialogue "Central Asia - Russia", launched with the support of Valentina Matviyenko. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed organizing regular meetings within the framework of these formats.
The parties noted the key role of parliamentarians in the development of a full-scale interstate dialogue and its enrichment with new content. The strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties, including in the areas of education, science, healthcare and culture, was separately discussed.
During the conversation, Valentina Matviyenko's significant activities in the areas of motherhood and childhood, healthcare and inclusive education were emphasized. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed respect for her initiatives in developing and implementing long-term strategies and programs to address children's issues.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted the large-scale work carried out in Turkmenistan to create favorable conditions for the comprehensive development of children and provide them with the necessary support. He announced the holding of the conference "Year of Peace and Trust: Development of International Activities for Children" on March 29, organized by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, and invited a high-ranking delegation from Russia to take part in this forum.
Valentina Matviyenko thanked for the invitation and confirmed the readiness of Russian parliamentarians to participate in the events planned in Turkmenistan this year, primarily in the conference dedicated to international activities for children.
