 Turkmenistan and Gansu Province of China outline steps to enhance educational cooperation

On February 24, 2025, a meeting took place between the Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Azat Atayev, and a delegation led by the Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Gansu Province, People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhao Xun. The parties discussed establishing partnerships in the field of education with Gansu Province, People's Republic of China. Specifically, they addressed collaboration on scholarship opportunities for Turkmen students in priority professions, establishing effective connections between universities specializing in oil and gas, medicine, and engineering technologies, and implementing joint training programs for professional development.

The Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan informed the guest about the efforts to improve the quality of education in the country in accordance with leading global practices and the tasks that lie ahead in this area.

Mr. Zhao Xun provided an overview of the higher education institutions in Gansu Province, People's Republic of China, and discussed the support provided by the province to international students, including those from Turkmenistan. Furthermore, he proudly noted that since 2020, the Lanzhou University in Gansu Province has operated a Turkmen Studies Research Center, and the Jiaotong University hosts a Center for Turkmen Culture.

To implement these proposals in a phased manner, it was agreed to jointly prepare a “Roadmap” and to organize future meetings in a “Round Table” format.
