 Masato Kanda takes office as ADB President

Masato Kanda officially took office as the 11th President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on February 24.

“I am honored to assume my role as ADB President at this important time for our region”, — Mr. Kanda said. “With the trust and confidence of our 69 members and the support of our dedicated staff, I intend to advance ADB’s mission of promoting sustainable and inclusive growth. Together, we will respond to pressing development challenges while ensuring that ADB remains a steadfast partner in the region”.

He succeeds Masatsugu Asakawa, continuing a legacy of excellence and innovation. Mr. Kanda’s appointment underscores ADB’s ongoing evolution and its commitment to addressing the dynamic needs of developing countries. As the Bank enters a new phase of strategic growth, his leadership will build on ADB’s strong legacy while also positioning the institution to address future challenges and opportunities.
