From Zhengzhou to Ashgabat: New TIR Transport Route Launched

On February 20, a TIR truck full of office supplies left the Zhengzhou International Road Transport Center in Henan Province, China. Its destination was Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. This event marked the opening of the new TIR transport route "Zhengzhou-Ashgabat", China News Network reports.

TIR (from the French Transport International Routier - international road transport) is a system of international road transport regulated by the Convention on International Road Transport (TIR). It allows goods to be transported across the borders of several countries with minimal customs formalities.

The consignment of goods is being transported by Zhengzhou Hongyi Transport Co., Ltd. and will leave China through the Khorgos checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, then transit through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to arrive in Ashgabat. The entire journey is about 6,000 kilometers and takes 9 days. This is the first time that a Chinese road transport company has carried out direct road transportation between China and Turkmenistan.

TIR transportation contributes to the development of trade between China and Central Asian countries. And thanks to simplified customs procedures, goods are delivered faster. Reducing transportation costs will have a positive effect on the prices of goods.

The opening of the Zhengzhou-Ashgabat route is an important step in the development of transport communications between China and Turkmenistan. It is expected that this route will help strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
