The number of freight trains from the Chinese province of Jiangsu to Central Asia has increased
20.02.2025 | 15:30 |In January 2025, 96 freight trains departed from Jiangsu Province in Eastern China to Central Asia, marking a 38.7% increase compared to the same period last year. This information was reported by Xinhua News Agency, citing the Transportation Department of the aforementioned province.
This surge in freight train traffic is part of a broader trend of expanding international cargo transportation through China, particularly along the China-Europe route. Overall, Jiangsu Province handled 195 freight trains this month, carrying 16,010 standard containers (twenty-foot equivalent units, TEUs).
The growing number of trains and containers reflects the increasing interest in Central Asian and European markets among Chinese manufacturers and logistics companies. Local businesses are actively developing their routes, providing services to enterprises that export a variety of goods, including clothing, toys, and household appliances. It is anticipated that the volume of cargo shipped will continue to rise in the future, which is also associated with measures to reduce transportation costs for international freight trains arriving in the province.
