 Turkmen citizens are eligible to apply for scholarships to study at Indian universities

The Embassy of India in Ashgabat has announced that the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is offering scholarships to citizens of Turkmenistan who wish to study at Indian universities and institutions for the 2025-2026 academic year. The program covers bachelor's, master's, and research programs, as well as the study of Indian culture, including dance, music, theater, performing arts, sculpture, Indian languages, and culinary arts.

Application Process

Applications for study will be accepted online through the ICCR A2A Scholarship Portal (https://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in), which will open on February 20, 2025. This year, 131 universities and institutions are participating in the program.

Key Dates:

  • February 20, 2025 – Opening of the application portal;

  • April 30, 2025 – Deadline for student applications;

  • May 31, 2025 – Last day for universities to notify acceptance or rejection;

  • June 15, 2025 – Last day for scholarship allocation and issuance of admission offers from Indian diplomatic missions;

  • June 22, 2025 – Deadline for students to accept offers;

  • July 1, 2025 – Start of the second round of scholarship allocation among students who did not receive a place in the first round;

  • July 10, 2025 – Deadline for enrollment confirmation for second-round students.

Selection Features

  • Candidates can apply to five universities of their choice, but admission depends on the availability of places;

  • To confirm the level of English proficiency, it is necessary to write a 500-word essay or provide TOEFL/IELTS certificates;

  • Online interviews are possible;

  • All scholarship payments have been made through the PFMS system since 2021;

  • The scholarship covers economy class air tickets to the nearest airport, as well as train travel to the place of study (3rd class AC);

  • For admission to engineering specialties (BE/B.Tech), applicants must study physics, chemistry, and mathematics (PCM) in high school;

  • Documents not in English must be accompanied by an official translation.
