 Iran and Turkmenistan aim to deepen trade and economic ties

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, who is on a visit to Tehran, met with the First Vice President of Iran, Mohammadreza Aref, on the sidelines of the III Caspian Economic Forum.

Speaking at the meeting, Aref stressed the serious priority of Iran to develop and expand relations with neighboring countries, Iranian media reported. In this strategy, Turkmenistan occupies a special place, he said, adding that the leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, stressed the need to strengthen relations with neighboring Turkmenistan.

The parties discussed the advancement of previously reached agreements, noting that the agenda includes deepening trade and economic ties with an emphasis on the private sector.

The need to develop relations in the fields of energy, transport, transit, and tourism was noted, taking into account the cultural and civilizational commonality that exists between the two countries.

The role of the Joint Economic Cooperation Council of Iran and Turkmenistan to intensify trade and economic relations between the two states was emphasized.

On Monday, the Third Caspian Economic Forum opened in Tehran with the participation of prime ministers and ministers of Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan at the “Azadi” Hotel in Tehran.
