SCO cultural evening celebrates Spring Festival and Lantern Festival in Beijing
A Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) cultural evening took place in Beijing on February 14, 2025, to celebrate the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival. The event brought together diplomats from SCO member states, their families, and staff from the SCO Secretariat and the China Committee for Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation.
The Lantern Festival, which was celebrated on February 12th this year, served as a symbol of unity and cultural exchange among the participating countries.
SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev emphasized that the values embodied in these festivals resonate with the principles of the "Shanghai Spirit" and universal human values.
The evening featured workshops on Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, and the preparation of traditional dishes such as yuanxiao (sweet glutinous rice flour balls eaten during the Lantern Festival). The event marked an important step in strengthening friendship and cooperation among the peoples of the SCO member states.
