 Global Gas Centre and Turkmenistan to expand cooperation

On February 13, 2025 The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, Vepa Hajiyev, held a meeting with the Executive Director of the Global Gas Centre (GGC), Valérie Ducrot.

The meeting focused on discussing the activities of the Centre and exploring opportunities for expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and the GGC. During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on current trends in the natural gas sector and the energy transition. Valérie Ducrot provided a detailed overview of the mission of the Global Gas Centre, which serves as a platform for international dialogue, bringing together key players in the gas industry.

Ambassador Hajiyev highlighted Turkmenistan's significant natural gas reserves and expressed the country’s interest in expanding international cooperation and leveraging advanced expertise in the gas sector.

In this context, the parties discussed potential areas of collaboration between GGC and Turkmenistan, including the exchange of expert knowledge, participation of Turkmen representatives in the Centre’s specialized events, and possible joint initiatives in the field of sustainable gas utilization.

Both sides agreed to continue their dialogue and explore concrete steps to enhance cooperation, the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Geneva reported.
