"Culture brings our peoples closer" - ambassador of Tajikistan on cooperation with Turkmenistan
12.02.2025 | 14:30 |Tajikistan and Turkmenistan continue to strengthen cultural ties, building on centuries-old traditions of friendship and humanism. In 2024, cooperation between the two countries gained special momentum within the framework of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker, Magtymguly Fragi. As noted in an article by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan, Niyatbekzoda Vafo Alibek, published in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan", Tajikistan actively supported Turkmenistan's initiative by participating in a number of large-scale events.
International conferences and round tables dedicated to the poet's work were held in the friendly country, scientific articles were published, and a secondary school named after Magtymguly Fragi was opened in the Dusti district of the Khatlon region. In his speech at the International Forum in honor of Fragi's anniversary, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that the work of the Turkmen poet is closely connected with the Tajik-Persian literary heritage. In turn, Ashgabat adorned the "Magtymguly Pyragy" cultural and park complex with a monument to the Tajik poet and thinker, Sayido Nasafi, which became a symbol of the strong friendship between the two peoples.
The article also notes the importance of the official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Tajikistan on April 4-5, 2024. During meetings with the President of Tajikistan, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties, which was закреплено by the signing of five new cooperation agreements. A landmark event was the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Tajikistan, which included concerts, exhibitions, scientific discussions, and presentations of books by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. These events demonstrated the high level of cultural interaction between the two states and laid the foundation for further expansion of cooperation.
As emphasized in the publication, the historically established principles of creation, humanism, and peacefulness are a solid foundation for Tajik-Turkmen interaction, and cultural diplomacy remains the most important factor in bringing peoples closer together.
