Ambassador of Turkmenistan meets with UN resident coordinator in Tajikistan
10.02.2025 | 19:15 |On February 10th, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, Aymyrat Gochmyradov, met with the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Tajikistan, Ramaswami Parvati.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and priority areas of interaction in the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
Special attention was paid to the significance of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' visit to Turkmenistan last summer, as well as the telephone conversation between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the UN Secretary-General on January 14, 2025.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan emphasized that the country, as a neutral state, attaches great importance to active cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies. He noted that the principles of neutrality, good neighborliness and open dialogue are the basis of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, contributing to the strengthening of trust and stability in the international arena.
During the meeting, a constructive exchange of views also took place on the implementation of the tasks enshrined in the Concept of Activities and Priorities of Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust. In particular, it was noted that the International Forum of Peace and Trust is planned to be held in Ashgabat in December 2025, which will bring together participants from all over the world to consolidate efforts and develop concrete further steps to strengthen the global culture of peace.
The parties noted the special symbolism of 2025, associated with the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, twice recognized by the Community of Nations, as well as with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, highly appreciating Turkmenistan's initiatives in the international arena, noted the country's significant contribution to the promotion of global initiatives aimed at strengthening peace, security and sustainable development. She also expressed readiness to further deepen cooperation and hold joint events.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan presented the UN representative with a new book by the President of Turkmenistan entitled "Magtymguly – the Sage of the World", dedicated to the great Turkmen poet and philosopher.
