An expert dialogue was held in Islamabad with the ambassadors of Central Asian countries on cooperation
06.02.2025 | 22:50 |On February 6, the Institute of Regional Studies Islamabad (IRSI) hosted a roundtable titled "Ambassadors' Dialogue on Regional Cooperation".
The event featured speeches by Senator of Pakistan Mushahid Hussain, IRSI President Johar Salim, and the ambassadors of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
The speakers identified key topics for discussion, including strengthening political-diplomatic ties, exploring ways to increase trade and investment, promoting energy cooperation and regional connectivity, developing contacts between think tanks, expanding cultural diplomacy, and fostering climate cooperation among the region's countries.
In his address, Turkmen Ambassador Atajan Movlamov spoke about several major energy and infrastructure projects initiated by Turkmenistan, including TAPI and TAP. Special attention was given to the commencement of the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section of the transnational TAPI gas pipeline. In this context, the ambassador emphasized that, in addition to ensuring energy security, these projects would undoubtedly boost the region’s economic development, have a positive environmental impact, create tens of thousands of additional jobs, and improve the well-being of people in Pakistan.
Ambassador Movlamov also drew the participants' attention to the UN General Assembly Resolution declaring 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, an initiative by Turkmenistan. He spoke about Turkmenistan’s leadership policy aimed at consolidating international efforts to strengthen peace and trust in international relations.
During the discussions and exchange of views, the dialogue participants noted the relevance of joint efforts to maintain peace and enhance trust in the context of current trends and events in international and interstate relations, as reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad.
