February 4 – International Day of Human Fraternity
04.02.2025 | 19:10 |The International Year of Peace and Trust, declared by the United Nations General Assembly globally and by the Parliament of Turkmenistan at the national level in 2025, highlights the significance of the annually celebrated International Day of Human Fraternity on February 4. This day was proclaimed by the UN in recognition of all international, regional, national, and local initiatives, as well as the efforts of religious leaders aimed at promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
A key milestone was the "Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together" declaration, signed following the meeting between Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, which took place on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi.
This day serves as a call to uphold the values of mutual respect and solidarity, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to achieve a more peaceful, just, and harmonious world for all. Tolerance, pluralism, and mutual respect for religious diversity and beliefs contribute to human fraternity.
Therefore, the UN considers it essential to conduct activities aimed at fostering interreligious and intercultural dialogue to strengthen peace and social stability, respecting diversity to create an atmosphere conducive to peace and mutual understanding at global, regional, national, and local levels.
