 Turkmen experts share experience in assessing greenhouse gas emissions in Tokyo

Representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan are participating in an international conference on assessing greenhouse gas emissions using the GOSAT satellite. The forum is being held on February 3-4 in Tokyo, Japan.

At the conference, representatives from Central Asian countries, Japan, Azerbaijan and Mongolia discussed the possibilities of using data obtained from the satellite to conduct an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions.

Mergen Yusupov, Deputy Head of the Department for Coordination of International Environmental Cooperation and Projects of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, made a presentation on the key directions of the state environmental policy of Turkmenistan, as well as on the measures implemented in accordance with the National Climate Change Strategy. He noted the measures taken by the country in the field of climate change, and international initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan.

At the conference, representatives of Turkmenistan exchanged experience with participants from other countries and discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation. The importance of the methods used for conducting an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and the use of digital technologies in this area was also emphasized, the environmental department reported.
