China launches its first English-Language navigator

Amap, China's leading navigation platform, has launched the first English-language version of its map, designed to facilitate travel for the increasing number of foreign tourists visiting the country.

The application provides English names and descriptions of landmarks, dining establishments, accommodations, and other key locations throughout China.

This initiative promises to be a significant development for the country's tourism industry, addressing navigation challenges previously faced by international visitors due to language barriers.

The launch coincides with a substantial surge in inbound tourism to China. According to the National Immigration Administration, 64.88 million international travelers entered and exited China in 2024, an 82.9% increase compared to the previous year.

Amap is highly popular not only for navigation. Through integration with the Alibaba ecosystem and interaction with platforms such as Alipay, Fliggy, Ele.me, and Koubei, Amap is becoming a one-stop solution for users seeking local services, food delivery, travel recommendations, and hotel bookings.
