The World Economic Forum Opens in Davos
21.01.2025 | 13:30 |On January 20, 2025, the 54th World Economic Forum (WEF) opened in Davos (a town in eastern Switzerland), and will continue until January 24. The theme of this year's forum is "Cooperation in the Age of Intelligence".
The forum is expected to bring together approximately 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries, including over 350 government leaders, among whom are 60 heads of state and government. Among the world leaders who will participate in the event are German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, Head of the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus, and the Presidents of Argentina and South Africa, Javier Miley and Cyril Ramaphosa, respectively.
Participants will discuss issues such as artificial intelligence, sustainable growth, and protecting the planet.
This year's event coincides with the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, who will address the forum participants via video conference.
