Meta, the company behind social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, has announced significant changes to its fact-checking system.

In the coming months, Meta intends to replace its fact-checking personnel in the United States with a new system called "Community Notes", which will resemble the platform X (formerly Twitter) developed by Elon Musk.

Under the new system, users will be able to add context to misleading posts, and other users will be able to rate the helpfulness of these notes.

Meta also plans to simplify its content moderation rules, focusing on illegal and egregious violations, which may lead to a decrease in the number of accidental post removals. These changes are part of a broader company strategy aimed at adapting to the evolving political and social landscape.

Company CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that this move aims to return to the company's roots related to freedom of speech.
