Giant ice replica of Ashgabat's Wedding Palace created in China
06.01.2025 | 14:30 |A giant ice replica of Ashgabat's Wedding Palace, "Bagt köşgi", was unveiled in its full icy splendor in the Chinese city of Harbin at the 26th "Ice and Snow World" Festival. Every detail, from the intricate patterns on the facade to the eight-sided cube, was recreated with incredible precision.
The true masterpiece was created by Chinese ice sculptors who showed love and respect for Turkmenistan's architectural heritage. All the ice sculptures in the park were inspired by landmarks from 42 countries of the Olympic Council of Asia. Since the IX Winter Asian Games will take place in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeastern China, in February, key elements of the Winter Asian Games are integrated into the design of the snow town.
The park set a historical record for the number of ice sculptures, covering an area of 1 million square meters, significantly larger compared to last year, and marking the largest since its inception 26 years ago. Construction of the park required 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow. This year, both in terms of the number of ice sculptures and the amount of materials used, "Ice and Snow World" holds the title of the largest snow city in the world.
For instance, the main tower features the emblem of the Olympic Council of Asia, and its central part is shaped like a shining sun, symbolizing the dynamic development of the continent and sports. On one side of the tower is a dragon, symbolizing East Asia, while on the other side is an eagle, representing Western and Central Asia.
Together, they symbolize the unity and mutual development of Asian countries. The park’s ice landscapes include a section dedicated to "Central Asia", demonstrating landmarks such as the Ala-Too Square (Alatau) in Kyrgyzstan, the Khujand Museum in Tajikistan, and more. Thousands of sparkling lights, intricate ice sculptures, and a magical atmosphere create an unforgettable celebration for all visitors, reports the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
