Dubai, known for its hot desert environment, plans to transform into a "pedestrian city" as part of a new ambitious project called "Dubai Walk".

The project involves the creation of 6,500 kilometers of pedestrian pathways across the city, with 2,300 kilometers of existing paths to be upgraded. A key component of the initiative will be the construction of 110 underground crossings and bridges, significantly improving pedestrian accessibility. The goal of the project is to increase the share of pedestrians in the overall urban traffic to 25% by 2040. The routes will be diverse, including rural, mountainous, and urban paths, connecting key landmarks, as well as coastal and scenic routes.

One of the key elements will be the "Loop of the Future" — a 2,000-meter air-conditioned elevated walkway that will connect Dubai's main attractions. The project will be implemented gradually over the next 10 years, with a pilot phase planned for the first two years and full completion expected by 2040. This transformation will make Dubai more convenient and attractive for pedestrians, in line with global urban development trends.
