A Chameleon Smartphone has been invented in China

Chinese company Realme has created a chameleon smartphone.

The Realme 14 Pro and 14 Pro+ devices were announced during a presentation in Copenhagen, Denmark.

According to Android Authority, the smartphones were developed in collaboration with Valeur Designers.

The devices feature a chameleon-like rear panel that can change color depending on the surrounding temperature. When the temperature drops to 16°C, the rear panel of the Realme 14 Pro can change from pearly white to bright blue. Conversely, if the temperature rises above 16°C, the back panel returns to white.

This is made possible through the use of thermochromic pigments. Over time, the color-changing effect may weaken due to the properties of the materials.

The flagship model, Realme 14 Pro+ 5G, will feature a curved AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as extremely thin 1.6mm bezels. The device will be 8mm thick and offer IP69-rated protection against dust and water.

As the developers explained, there are currently no similar solutions in the industry. While chameleon smartphones are available from various brands, they change color not in response to temperature but depending on lighting conditions and the angle of sunlight.
