05.12.2024 | 11:20 |The Republic of Belarus has invited observers from the central election commissions of the Commonwealth of Independent States to the seventh presidential election, which will be held on January 26, 2025.
Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, announced this to journalists before the start of a solemn award ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus.
"We have invited observers from the central election commissions of the CIS countries, primarily our colleagues from the Consultative Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies of the CIS countries," Karpenko said, adding that on January 24, another meeting of the Consultative Council of Electoral Bodies of the CIS countries is scheduled to be held in the Belarusian capital.
The CEC of Belarus has invited a number of central election commissions with which the Belarusian side interacts within the framework of the Association of World Election Bodies. Feedback and relevant documents for accreditation are expected.
As Igor Karpenko reported, the accreditation of the CIS Observer Mission has already been carried out, but the process will continue. The head of the mission, Sergei Lebedev, will traditionally receive accreditation certificate number one.
