Organizers of the Tokyo Olympic Games are considering the possibility of equipping the athletes’ village with a medical center exclusively for the treatment of athletes and coaches suspected of being infected with COVID-19. This plan will be discussed at the government’s meeting and the local Olympic Organizing Committee in late October.
Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee will create a special unit that will be charged with collecting information related to COVID-19 in the main operations center – the games headquarter.
The athletes’ village in the Tokyo Bay area is expected to accommodate more than 10,000 people. In this regard, the organizers discussed measures to prevent the spread of the virus in restaurants and other public areas.
