Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya held talks by phone on Friday, November 8.
The press release of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported that the heads of diplomatic agencies discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The interlocutors discussed issues of preparation for the upcoming first Summit "Central Asia + Japan" at the level of heads of state and exchanged views on the agenda of the next inter-MFA consultations.
The key topic of the conversation was interaction in the trade and economic sphere. The interest of Japanese companies in developing cooperation with the Turkmen side was expressed, in particular in such areas as "green" energy, decarbonization, gas chemical industry and other areas in which Japanese technologies can be used.
In addition, the discussion focused on the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
