 The UN adopted the resolution “Central Asia - a zone of peace, trust and cooperation”

On 24 October, the 25th plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution “Central Asia - a zone of peace, trust and cooperation” initiated by Turkmenistan. Most of the UN member states and all the states of the region co-authored the document, reported Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday.

The Foreign Minister also reported on preparations for the next meeting of the Turkmenistan-United Nations Strategic Advisory Council, TDH reported.

This Council was established with the support of the head of state in March 2024. This year, two meetings have taken place. In this regard, proposals for holding another meeting of the Council in November of this year, along with its agenda, were presented to the President of Turkmenistan for consideration.

A preliminary draft of the Plan of Measures, including those of international and regional nature, planned in the context of the UN General Assembly Resolution “2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust” adopted on the initiative of our country, which is proposed to be considered at the forthcoming meeting.

In the context of implementing systemic approaches and positive practices for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals at the national level, it is proposed to consider the Roadmap for Strengthening SDG Reporting in Turkmenistan for 2024-2026, prepared jointly by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan and relevant ministries and agencies of our country.
