Turkmen-Mongolian high-level negotiations took place in Ashgabat
12.10.2024 | 13:50 |Today, within the framework of the first state visit of the President of Mongolia to Turkmenistan, high-level talks were held between the heads of the two friendly countries Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh.
During his stay in Ashgabat, the Mongolian leader met with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and along with other high-ranking foreign guests, participated in the international forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - the Basis of Peace and Development” held in the Turkmen capital, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, reports TDH.
In the morning, the motorcade of the leader of the friendly state, accompanied by an honor escort of motorcyclists, proceeded to the Oguzhan Presidential Palace Complex. From the intersection of Turkmenbashi-Galkynysh streets, the motorcade of the President of Mongolia was accompanied by an honor guard on horseback.
At the main entrance to the Palace Complex, the Head of Turkmenistan warmly and hospitably welcomed the high-ranking guest. After exchanging friendly handshakes, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh entered the palace complex, where an official meeting ceremony for the Mongolian leader took place.
Then, high-level bilateral negotiations were held in a narrow format. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked his Mongolian counterpart for the invitation to visit Turkmenistan on a state visit.
Expressing confidence that the first state visit of the President of Mongolia to Turkmenistan will become a historic milestone in further expansion of friendship and cooperation between our countries and peoples, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized our country's commitment to the consistent development of cooperation with Mongolia in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as close interaction within the framework of major international organizations.
As noted, the content of Turkmen-Mongolian relations is determined by a complete mutual understanding regarding both in views on the priorities and prospects of bilateral partnership and on the trends of global development. An important factor in this is the proximity or alignment of our approaches to issues of ensuring universal stability and security and countering modern threats.
In this regard, gratitude was expressed for Mongolia's long-standing and firm support for Turkmenistan's neutral foreign policy course, as well as for the important international initiatives that our country promotes in the UN and other international structures. Turkmenistan, in turn, intends to continue to support Mongolia's proposals on the global political stage.
Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh also expressed his conviction that the current historic high-level negotiations will provide new impetus for closer interaction between the friendly states in all areas and noted the great potential for developing intergovernmental dialogue, which consistently maintains a mutually respectful and constructive character.
The negotiations then continued in an expanded format, involving members of the official delegations of both countries. Current issues in Turkmen-Mongolian relations were discussed, with efforts from both sides aimed at elevating them to a qualitatively new level of development.
Emphasizing the important priorities of cooperation built on a long-term, mutually beneficial basis, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh noted that the effective realization of the existing multifaceted potential for interaction fully aligns with both common interests and sustainable development goals.
The sides also exchanged views on current issues of mutual interest on the regional and international agenda.
At the end of the talks, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held, and then the heads of the two states addressed the media.
