Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan held a series of meetings with Heads of State
12.10.2024 | 11:50 |On Friday, 11 October, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a series of bilateral meetings with the heads of states participating in the International Forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - Basis of Peace and Development”. Chairman of Halk Maslahaty congratulated the distinguished guests on the awarding of the jubilee medal “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna” and exchanged views with them on interstate relations.
Thus, at the meeting between the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, it was noted that within the framework of strategic partnership, there is a positive dynamic in the interaction between Turkmenistan and Russia in the political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and other areas, facilitated by regular high-level contacts and communications between the foreign policy departments and parliaments of the two countries.
Speaking about cultural and humanitarian ties as an important component of Turkmen-Russian relations, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the regularity of mutual Days of Culture, emphasizing that Turkmenistan pays great attention not only to Russian culture, but also to the study of Russian language and literature. One example of the high level of cooperation in the field of education is the Turkmen-Russian joint secondary school named after A.S. Pushkin, which operates in Ashgabat. Today, Russian language is taught in all educational institutions of Turkmenistan. Tens of thousands of Turkmen students study in Russian universities.
Trade and economic ties, coordinated by the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, occupy an important place in the agenda of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue. A meeting of the co-chairs of the Commission is scheduled for late October in Ashgabat, to discuss the state and prospects of the partnership.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty thanked Vladimir Putin for his great personal contribution to the development and strengthening of Turkmen-Russian relations, reported TDH.
At the meeting between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, a high level of interstate relations was noted, which are actively developing today. These relations, which date back to the depth of centuries, are based on the principles of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual respect. Bilateral cooperation in various fields, aimed at long-term prospects, is being enriched with new content.
It was noted that Turkmenistan and Iran have great opportunities for interaction in energy, transport and communication spheres, which is of strategic importance for effective trade and economic relations in the whole region.
At the same time, the successful development of cultural and humanitarian ties has been noted. Active cultural and scientific exchanges established in recent years, the organization of international conferences and forums with the participation of Turkmen and Iranian delegations, mutual cultural days, exhibitions of arts and crafts and other joint events clearly testify to this.
The closeness of views of the two countries on many issues on the regional and global agenda determines effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran within the framework of prestigious international organizations.
During the meeting between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, it was noted that interstate cooperation is successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of the UN and other authoritative international and regional organizations, supporting each other's initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and stability.
In this regard, the distinguished guest noted the importance of the Resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on the proposal of Turkmenistan to proclaim 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
Also, during the meeting, the sides had an interesting exchange of views on other important issues on the bilateral agenda.
At the meeting between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, priority areas of interstate cooperation were discussed.
Sadyr Japarov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, based on mutual goodwill, principles of mutual respect and trust, and presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi, published in the Kyrgyz language.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that one of the key vectors of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz partnership is the trade and economic sphere, which has substantial potential for further increasing the volume of trade turnover and diversifying mutually beneficial connections. In this aspect, a significant role is assigned to the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission, the regular meeting of which was held in July this year.
Great importance is also attached to the intensification of productive partnership in strategic areas such as energy and transport. Good prospects for cooperation in agriculture, industrial complex and private sector were noted. The interlocutors expressed their support for continuing joint efforts to organize cross cultural days and other creative initiatives, and to enhance contacts in the scientific and educational sphere, as well as in the field of sports.
At a meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, highly appreciated Shavkat Mirziyoyev's contribution to promoting the rich creative heritage and commemorating the memory of the great Turkmen classic. This is evidenced by the decree signed at the beginning of this year regarding the wide celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi in Uzbekistan, as well as the joint biographical film about the genius master of words, shot by Turkmen and Uzbek cinematographers.
During the conversation, the sides discussed current issues of interstate cooperation, as well as key topics on the regional and global agenda. Highlighting political and diplomatic interaction among the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted the mutual support of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for each other's initiatives and proposals within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the United Nations.
The common history, traditions, language and spiritual values serve as a strong foundation of Turkmen-Uzbek relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, as evidenced by the regular participation of creative delegations in international events held in the two countries - days of culture, cinema, joint concerts, conferences, exhibitions and festivals.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the book “Magtymguly”, translated into Uzbek as a sign of friendship and special respect. The National Leader of the Turkmen people announced an upcoming presentation of this poetry collection in the coming days.
