The Daulet Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University hosted the international conference "Engineering Education: Challenges, Trends, Best Practices (EE: CTBP)".

The event brought together representatives of science and education in order to improve teaching and learning methods in engineering and technological disciplines. Special attention was paid to the application of CDIO standards in educational programs, as well as issues of artificial intelligence and sustainable development.

Turkmenistan was represented at the conference by Mukam Ekaev, Senior lecturer at the Department of Nanotechnology and Materials Science of the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology. Within the framework of the conference, master classes were held on strategic qualifications, project management, engineering design and sustainable education technologies, as well as on the methodology of engineering education and the application of CDIO standards in practice. The delegates discussed the issues of transformation of engineering education for industrial development, training of engineering and technical personnel, international initiatives in engineering education, the possibility of certification of engineering personnel.

Rectors and university professors from various countries, including Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom, spoke at the plenary sessions. The participants also visited the university's centers and laboratories.

CDIO (Conceptual — Design — Implementation — Operate) is an international network of cooperation in the field of innovative engineering education, uniting more than 200 universities from 35 countries. This initiative is based on an educational program in which students study engineering specialties using the "Plan – Design –Produce –Apply" model, creating real systems and products for the international market.

It is important to note that the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan became the first university in Central Asia to be accepted as a full member of the CDIO organization in March 2023. This university actively demonstrates the pursuit of excellence in the academic and scientific fields, participating in various scientific, practical and educational events both at home and abroad.
