 Turkmen parliamentarians participate in the Central Asian Women's Forum in Bishkek

On 4 October, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the Central Asian Women's Dialogue forum held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The forum, entitled "Women, Peace and Security: Women's Role in Peace and Security in Central Asia and Afghanistan", aims to strengthen regional cooperation and promote women's leadership in peacebuilding efforts.

In their speech, the Turkmen parliamentarians emphasized the importance of friendly and fraternal relations between the countries in ensuring peace, well-being and security in the region, highlighted the role of women in the development of the national economy, spoke about legal guarantees and social benefits for women.

Bahar Seyidova, Chairperson of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Social Policy of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, noted: "Today, under the leadership of the country and the President of Turkmenistan, our country is consistently strengthening cooperation with the states of the world and international organizations for sustainable development. Today we also propose to promote consultations within the Women's Dialogue on a systematic basis following the common agenda "Women, Peace and Security".

The forum participants discussed key topics such as climate change adaptation considering gender factors and the management of transboundary water resources with a gender perspective. In particular, innovative solutions aimed at increasing women's participation in water resource management in transboundary areas were considered, promoting regional cooperation for sustainable water use.

As a result of the forum, strategic recommendations were adopted to ensure women's meaningful participation in peacebuilding and sustainable development throughout Central Asia and Afghanistan. These recommendations will be presented in subsequent inter-state policy processes to strengthen regional cooperation.

The Bishkek event was organized by local government structures with the support of international organizations and the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
