 President of Turkmenistan at the Summit: Germany and CA can strengthen regional security

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made key statements at the second “Central Asia-Germany” Summit in Astana, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation to ensure regional peace and stability and to develop economic relations.

Regional Security and International Cooperation: Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that close cooperation between Central Asia and Germany can have a constructive impact on the situation in the region and neighboring areas. He emphasized the need for active involvement of the international community, especially the UN, in addressing issues of regional security and stability.

Countering new threats: The head of Turkmen state called for increased diplomatic contacts and joint efforts to combat international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and cross-border crime. He paid special attention to new threats, such as cybercrime and biohazards, and suggested using German technological developments for effective defense.

Joint work with Germany: The President expressed Turkmenistan's readiness for comprehensive assistance within the “Central Asia-Germany” format. He suggested joint definition of algorithms for risk control and monitoring, as well as active cooperation with German specialized institutions and in international formats such as the UN.

The situation in Afghanistan: Serdar Berdimuhamedov called on the international community to help turn Afghanistan into a peaceful and economically promising state. He emphasized the importance of helping the Afghan people overcome years of hardship and rebuild state institutions.

Priority of economic cooperation: The Turkmen President emphasized the need to develop economic relations between Central Asia and Germany. He noted that the economy should become the locomotive of cooperation, focusing on transport, logistics, energy, industrial production and other key sectors.

Innovation and co-production: In his speech at the summit, the head of Turkmenistan stressed the importance of transition to modern methods of doing business and the creation of joint production, service and training centers. The President noted that intellectual resources and the young, qualified population of Central Asia can contribute to successful integration of the region into the world economy.

Environmental Initiatives: Serdar Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated Germany's commitment to environmental issues and climate agenda. He expressed gratitude for Germany's active participation in the implementation of environmental projects and proposed to continue dialogue on “green” topics, noting the significance of the conference “Green Central Asia” held in Berlin in 2020.

The President of Turkmenistan assured that his country is open to further deepening cooperation with Germany and is ready to work on joint projects that will contribute to the sustainable development of the region and improve international relations.
