The feasibility of creating a Caspian Alliance of News Agencies was considered

A meeting of representatives of news agencies of the Caspian region countries was held on the sidelines of the BRICS Media Summit in Moscow, TASS reported on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani news agency AzerTAj, the Iranian news agency IRNA, the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian news agency TASS and the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

"The participants, recognizing the importance of strengthening multilateral information cooperation between the leading media of the Caspian region, came to the conclusion that it would be appropriate to create a Caspian Alliance of Information Agencies," the statement said.

The participants agreed to hold consultations in a working order on developing the Alliance's regulations, determining the time and place of the next meeting, and developing a format for information cooperation within the Alliance. The BRICS Media Summit is taking place in Moscow from September 13 to 17.

The heads of leading media structures of the BRICS countries, as well as the media of states that have expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the association, have been invited to the work of the seventh BRICS Media Summit in Moscow.
